Principles of Design

The principles of design are what we do with the elements of design.

Emphasis is when there is a focal point made using a variety of ways, some including contrast, sizing differences and more.
Harmony is when the design flows in a way that is calming and reassuring to the viewer.
Movement is how the design brings your eyes around the space it is in using different lines and shapes.
Pattern is the repeating basic design to create a complete, ongoing design.
Repetition is similar to pattern in the sense that it is a repeating design.
Rhythm is also a repeating pattern but is more flexible in the way it can be changed.
Balance is when the entire design is weighted equally on either side.
